Black Girls Rock.. an amazing event with a beautiful purpose.
I would be lying if I didn’t say the event left a somewhat lukewarm taste in my mouth and it had nothing to do with the show.  Moments after I sat down in my assigned seat in the auditorium, a few girls that were ushering people to their seat said that they had a closer seat for us.  So they walk us all the way to the front and sat us in the front row. I’m thinking, ‘This is what I call GOOD seats’.  However, as soon as Erykah Badu finished her performance, she came off stage and guess who was sitting in her seats??  “ME!!!”. I knew there was a catch!  So I had to get up and walk to the side of the stage before the usher started motioning for me to take the seat that was next to Erykah and her guests.  ‘Phew! False alarm’, I was thinking.. so I take my seat again and not less than a minute later,  Erykah is looking at me all funny because obviously she has a third person with her..and guess who is sitting in their seat?  You guessed it.. ME!!.  I got up, apologized and talked to her really quick and she congratulated me on the site and I scurried over to the side again.  This time, the Usher motioned for me again and I put my hand out and said ‘NO, I’m not sitting anywhere else. I am NOT a seat filler’.  I was HOT!  Needless to say, I left a few minutes later and ran into some folks in the lobby who had the same experience with their seats.  We all decided to chuck the deuces and drown our sorrows in some good sushi and cocktails at Nobu.
What a night!
The show airs on BET on November 6th at 8pm!
