The Law Of Attraction

– The Law Of Attraction

I truly believe in the Secret and principles of “laws of attraction”. I was introduced to the book towards the end of 2007 when a random guy came up to me and whispered “I believe in the Secret”. Back then I thought he was nuts but I soon found out that “The Secret” was a book, so I picked it up and my life has changed drastically since then. The principles have everything to do with attracting those things that you want in life by: changing your thought process, gratitude for things you already have and believing you will receive the things you want by visualizing them and acting as though you already have them.

I drove 12 hours on Thanksgiving Eve to make sure that I was with my family on Thanksgiving Day. Although I hadn’t seen them in almost 2 years, I stayed in my hometown for less than 5 hours. While there I stopped at everyone’s house and the energy… I can’t explain it but it was bad for me. First, I stopped at a cousins and she was complaining about her kids (she has 3). I stopped at an aunt’s house and she was talking about her bad health. I even stopped at a friend’s house in the DC area and she was constantly talking about how she didn’t know how she was going to pay for this and that (mortgage, school, etc), how she felt like she would never find Mr. Right among other things. I said to her, “look at all you have. you live in a huge home in PG County, you have a nice car, you have your mom and you sister here with you, you have a degree..you are working on your masters. you have so much to be thankful and grateful for but the fact that you are focusing on the things that you do not have versus the things you have…you are blocking your blessings”.

It’s True my life has changed drastically over the past two years…and it isn’t because of a blog. It’s because of my ability to change my thought process. I used to be a complainer. Everytime someone called I had a complaint about something. Nothing was ever right in my life. There were friends of mine who I felt had it all when it came to their careers, family, love life and I envied them because I was too caught up on what they had and what I didn’t to realize my own blessings.

It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are, the law of attraction is forming your entire life experience, and this all-powerful law is doing that through your thoughts. You are the one who calls the law of attraction into action, and you do it through your thoughts. – The Secret

For example…My life started changing as soon as i began the practice of thanking God every day for the little things. I didn’t have much but I thanked him for the little things like having a roof over my head (when i was living with an aunt) and food to eat. Then I started visualizing what I wanted.

When I started my website, I visualized where my site would be in a year…and where I wanted to be in my life. After a year had passed, I was there…

When I was driving my dented up hooptie, with no ac, no radio. I would get in it everyday and visualize that I was in my dream car…to the point that I felt as though I was really driving my dream car. I recently bought my dream car.

When I first moved to Atlanta there was some condos I would drive past from time to time and I said “I’m going to live there”. I visualized that I would live there. I knew I couldn’t afford them but I went up in there anyway, and I asked to see the models. Over a time span of a year, I went in every model they had, 1, 2, 3 bedrooms, townhouses, lofts etc and visualized where my furniture would be and how I would set the place up. I eventually moved there..

It reminds me of the concept of “ask and you will receive”. Pray on it and leave it in God’s hands and if it’s suppose to be it’ll be. I live a great life. Today I can look back and say, I’m thankful for those years of sleeping on Friends couches. I’m thankful for packing up and moving from city to city trying to find my destiny. I’m thankful for the tons of bad men I’ve dated because it helps me appreciate the good ones. I’m grateful that God has given me the strength to handle adversity when the people closest to me (my parents and my grandmother) have passed on. I’m grateful for those 1 or 2 bad seeds I’ve met that have disguised themselves as friends only to drag me through the mud as if we were enemies later on. I’m grateful that throughout my journey I have met tons of African American women that have inspired and motivated me to be GREAT! No matter what the circumstance, situation or obstacles presented. Anything less than that is not an option!

With changing the way we think about things, we have to remove “I can’t” from our vocabulary. Yes YOU CAN, there is always a way. I met a realtor this weekend and she wanted to be a fashion designer but felt that she was too old, she didn’t have time, she couldn’t do it because she had kids, etc etc. Her thoughts were too crowded with all the reasons why she wouldn’t be able to be a designer. We can’t focus on the obstacles because it creates fear.

The key to absolute freedom and joy for each and every one of us is to let go of fear. When you understand that fear puts you on a frequency of attracting more fearful events and circumstances into your life, you will understand how important it is to shift yourself. When you focus on things such as being late, getting sick, getting fired etc you are actually summoning those things to you.

I’m starting to ramble now but my main point is this: We have to change our thoughts to focus on what we can and will do. We have to be more positive and thankful for things we already have. Focusing on negative energy will only bring more negative energy your way. In 2010, it’s time for change…

G’Morning Necole! Thanks for that message. Sometimes we need to hear those things again and again to really realize our blessings and know that we can pray our hopes into existance! Sucks about the 12hr drive tho! At least you can say you tried and took steps to reconnecting. You’ll work it out i’m sure. Anyway, keep on keeping on.

You have been blessed to be an inspiration to so many (myself included) in one way or another. Keep traveling that path you are on, making all kinds of imprints on the way! Congrats on all your success, and i hope you never let anybody make u feel guilty about obtaining it! Keep shining Gurl!…. and have a happy hoildays!

I was a chronic complainer… Ive been working on this for a while now. As I am approaching this last semester of grad school, I find myself freaking out about my future. Everytime I visualize how I’d like it to be I get a little anxious. I need to calm myself down because at the end of the day what God has for me will be but I have to stop getting in my own way. Your post has made me realize that I need to be more thankful for what I have now and have faith that more is to come.

  • 24 Dec ’09

Thank you for sharing that . I feel you on the going home I have similar experience when returning to my hometown. I too am a follower of the secret and my life has changed dramatically since the end of 06 when I started it. (My income more than doubled I am living in my own home etc) I am now trying to get to the next level I just needed to be reminded to go back to basics so I can get results again. I appreciate you for being so open and honest always. I wish you (and everyone reading) much peace and many blessings in the coming year. Thanks for always being such an inspiration.

Thank younfor sharing this. I have been trying to tell people but just stopped talking and started showing. Your readers are going to benefit greatly from your words. Keep doing what you are doing. I would share my story but it is equally great and would take up too much space. May blessings continue to come your way from unexpected people and places!!

  • 5 Jan ’10

What a great piece of you to share with you all for the New Year. I have not read The Secret but I have heard much about it and even before the book I use to say I want to do this or that and low and behold it would happen. I can remember two times in particular in relation to work. I can remember driving past Columbus Circle in Manhattan and saying I wanted to work in the Time Warner Center…now I do. The power of thought and claiming your destiny is AMAZING. I greatly appreciate this post for it showing light on something I had personally let go for a minute. Have a Great year and keep the positive thoughts going…it suits you.

  • 5 Jan ’10

WOW! What an inspiring story! It is so hard to stay positive and focus on the good things when are you going through tough times. Complaining is so much easier. This story has given me great motivation, no more complaining in 2010! Thank you and many more blessings to you!

I really don’t believe it’s a coincidence that I’m seeing this today. I’m going to start putting the priniciples into effect immediately!

Great article. The law of attraction is very real. It is simple ’cause and effect’. Which is something you can see in action everyday. Just look around you.

Wow, I am so thankful that I had a chance to read this. I was actually introduced to the movie, The Secret a while ago. At that point in my life, I was not mature enough to fully understand it. I am going through a very transitional period in my life right now. I finally understand the importance of changing your whole thought process. Positivity is definitely key!

Although the good things have been on a small scale, by reading your story I’ve been inspired to continue to think positively, because if it happened for you and you just applied The Secret, it can happen for me! It’s all about being positive as you said.
Wishing you the best! And sending positivity your way!

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing. I’m a firm believer in the secret. When I was first exposed to it, it seemed too simple. I also wasn’t ready for that much responsibility. I realized my thoughts are controlling my life and I needed to get them in line with my goals. It’s been quite a transformation. Thank you for sharing your story. I am elated to know someone I admire so in the blogging world views things the way I do. Thank you!

So much WORD to all of this. I was talking to a (former)coworker today. We got to talking and she started in on how crazy the old job was and how mean and crazy the old boss was/is. I stopped and said, “I promised myself not to devote any energy to speaking bad of former boss.”
I meant it. I’m not there any more and I refuse to allow her to take up my time and energy. I then told former coworker about the positive things going on in my life and my plans for being a better me in 2010 both career wise and personal.
This was a timely reminder that we have to learn to focus on the good or get stuck in the bad.

I thank you soooo much for the honesty and sincerity in your words! I try to be positive but when you surrounded by negativity it’s hard. But you are absolutely right you gotta thank God for the trials and tribulations. If you never cry how can you know the beaut of a smile of laughter. %ts the downs that allow us to cherish the ups. I think we all know that but it helps soooo much to hear someone else say it. It’s a wonderful reminder. I feel inspired once more. I’m in full agreement with you Necole! Our thoughts determine our actions and if they’re all negative we can’t expect any good out of it. I’m also known to complain about everything, so this really helps me to understand how people would be less attracted to me because of my negative spirit:*( My father once stated that I was similar to him, a complainer. Its 2010, I’m going to Thank God more and Love it regardless.

I have several law of attraction books, but I never put them into action enough because I end up getting swept back up into a defeated attitude about everything that seemingly is going wrong in my life. Your story truly inspires me to seriously implement the law, because I do truly believe in its power. Its also SOOO wonderful and empowering to read about it from a black woman’s perspective. If your relationship is not working, instead of
trying to work on your partner, work on yourself. Practice is needed to
“get it” but once you get it you need never look back.
Few people will admit to doing so but most everyone has made
money a huge priority in their life. I am talking about the kind of hypnosis where you stay conscious the whole time between a waking
state and a sleeping state and where the “critical factor” is more easily reached and opens the doors to your subconscious mind.

This article explains the top two tricks that most people miss when it
comes to making the Law of Attraction work for money.
