The first time it was announced that Rihanna would be bringing her 777 Tour to TV, I literally gasped and hoped and prayed I would not come out of this looking crazy. Since it was a plane full of media, there were more than a fair share of camera guys on board and I had no idea which one of them had been filming for the DVD. I literally had a knot in my stomach for the entire month leading up to the air date on FOX. LAWD, just please don’t let me look crazy.
The documentary not only aired on FOX, but now E! has been airing it for the past week. Lucky for me, it actually turned out pretty dope. I not only made the documentary, but they also made a pseudo love story between myself and an Australian DJ named Tim, the sub plot of the documentary. From the moment I stepped on the plane, Tim was flirting and kicking game and boy did it make for a long, interesting and hilarious trip. At the end of the documentary, Tim said, “I just wanted a girlfriend out of all of this!!’ Awww.
As far as the actual trip, I think it took me a few months to really appreciate the once-in-a-lifetime experience. [For those who are unfamiliar, Rihanna invited over 150 journalists to travel with her on her 777 Tour which stopped in 7 countries in 7 days.] When I was in the thick of it, dealing with lack of sleep, being a little hungry, not having access to my emails, Internet, or phone, sitting on planes for hours at a time, an astronomically long bag check and custom process in each country and so forth…I was like, “Oh MY GOD! What did I sign up for????” But it was such an amazing experience to actually be able to visit 5 countries in 4 days (I joined the tour in Sweden so I didn’t do all 7 days), interact with journalists and bloggers from all over the world, and create a bond that we will have forever. We are Team #777. I can’t thank Rihanna or her team enough for allowing me to be a part of the experience. [Click here for my recap, pics and video.]
If you miss the documentary, catch it below. (my appearances with Tim are at the 16:26 and 20:34 mark).
I completely love your 7-11mins of air time. You didn’t look crazy at all. I thought you probably would be more hush hush and not say a word. But I’m glad you said a few things here and there.
P-S: I remember a post about you not liking to do speeches, or any crazy public appearance. I see your evolving one step at time. Which is good keep it up Necole… peace & luv
I just watched this documentary this weekend and although at times it looked like one big mess, I can agree that it is definitely an experience that you’ll never forget. One of the most memorable moments was when Tim ran around naked on the plane! This motivated me to keep doing what I’m doing so that maybe one day I could be one of those journalists on the plane. Congratulations on everything you’ve accomplished and will accomplish in the future!
