Sitting here trying to think about my answers for an interview with Pulse Magazine, an internal publication from Vibe Magazine. One question in particular has me stumped.
It’s funny they would ask because I’ve always wondered that. I am grateful every day when I click on the site and see the amount of comments. I know each and every regular commenter by name and no matter what time of day I post, there is bound to be someone on ready to do some “bitchin”. But why me? What makes my site so much more appealing than the thousands of other “gossip” sites out there?
I’ll have to sleep on it…
I think people go to your site for your personal perpective on things, they are buying ( or clickin) into you.
I know why I personally go to your site (and why it remains one of my favorites….because it’s so REAL. You are one of the very few whose peronality shows – and it shines. You display the happy, the sad, the mad, the funny, the disappointed, and the just plain satisfaction with life. Somehow between all your posts, your personality shows; and it’s amazing! You don’t know follow something just because. You are passionate about what you do and unlike other sites (not knocking them), readers can tell there is a PERSON behind the screen; not just a robot. Keep it up, girl!
I know I go to your site because your site is like talking with one of your friends. Your post are like something me and my friends would be talking about or one of us would say about something. You are honest and funny, and every once and a while you show your personal side that adds a bit of humanity to it all. You seem like just one of us, you are looking for a bargain on the hottest looks, and talk trash like the rest of us, except you actually have to come face to face with the people. I think it all comes down to the fact that you still seem grounded and real.
I have to agree with everyone above. I think for most of the followers it seems like your someone we know/knew personally. Keeping up with the celebs isn’t that interesting, it’s your rhetoric that makes it enjoyable.
I think post like your Twitter post on KKP, and the one on AlBSure’s son showcase what makes your site different. You come with stories that are actually interesting AND you aren’t afraid to share your opinion and story with your readers. Sets you miles apart in my opinion.
YOU LET YOUR READERS GROW WITH YOU AS YOU FIGURE EVERTHING OUT. I go to your site because you don’t be on no personal hating. If you have something to say you say it but it’s real. Don’t worry about why we come just continue to do u and we’ll keep supporting.
Your posts are original and objective and you’re not afraid to air your opinion and poke fun (humour) at the same time. Its kinda like chatting with my bff….a good laugh without compromising the “truth” or your perspective.
because when you say “sources”
you really have one!
I’m so late with this but I have a answer for that. Your site is the bomb! The other sites mentioned have really changed over the past year or so. I already told you about theybf stealing your stories and not giving credit but whatever. I can go to your site and laugh, get mad and fight but go back the next day because you keep it real.
Your site and design is great! You do have sources and events that no one else talks about. You have exclusive interviews. And you are humble. You don’t let the success get to your head.
It’s because you give the gossip in a positive perspective. It’s like catching up with a friend, and they update you on the latest news, but they’re never malicious about it. You don’t make up stories, your sources are always legit, and you personal commentary makes it just that.. personal. You’re like the cool homegirl from up the street, giving us the rundown. You don’t care about the attention factor, you just keep it real, when most blogs don’t! Totally bitchin! 🙂
My answer doesn’t matter at this point but if I had to give one it would be because we actually get to see who the person typing is and what has helped shape their opinion.
Example: I never understand why people give their opinions without giving a background into what has shaped their opinion…. Like when our parents tell us don’t do something we reply “why?” and they’d reply “because I said so”…. An opinion without validation is just that, an opinion.
You previously wrote that naming your blog Necole Bitchie meant you were giving your opinion on what we view as need to know “celebrity” information, but you have also incorporate stories about yourself. No shots fired but I can testify that Natasha (theybf) and all the other bloggers, haven’t set their foundation up like you have and that’s why “gossip-heads” click on your site.
In short, “Why not me?” would’ve been your reply…
This is why i click to necole bitchie every single time i reach my office this because it helps me grow emotionally,as a woman and as a friend you inspire me that, no matter what happens take heart and move on, compete with yourself not others ,and the best part is that yes even the people close to you will break you down will always have nothing good to say about you but how you handle them and move on is what matters .Keep doing what you are doing my dear the world is your runway and and all eyes are on you but most of all believe in yourself i know you can i have followed every single story yeah i know its hard to believe but i have and you are a strong woman let no one ever bring you down.
