Big Sean in the house!!! Detroit is dear to my heart so it was only right that I sat down with Big Sean once again as he prepared for the release of his new album, Hall of Fame. When I last talked to Sean, back in 2010, he was a newbie in the game and wasn’t really that well known. He hadn’t even released his first album yet. Back then, he was also in a very serious relationship with his high school sweetheart Ashley and he revealed to me that he had a life coach, Tony Robbins, who was helping him stay balanced as he navigated his way through fame.
Three years later, he no longer has the life coach but he reads books like “Ask and It Is Given” and “The Seven Spiritual Laws” often. He also has a new girlfriend, an actress name Naya Rivera, who he is in love with and feels as though she’s helping him be a better man.
Over all, I saw so much growth in Sean from the last time we spoke. I’d have to say my absolute favorite part of the interview was when he talked about crying on stage in Detroit and he turned to me and said, “I know you’ve shed a tear before haven’t you? You’ve come a long way from working at that radio station, to going down to Atlanta, to creating your own blog.” The fact that he remembered my story touched me and it really meant a lot to me.
Here’s part 1 & 2 of the Interview:
I’m so glad you posted these videos. I’m always looking for great inspiring stories from everyday people who made it big. It keeps me on my grind.
