Back in 2009, we interviewed Melody for a feature on NecoleBitchie.com and at the time, she had been designing shoes for two years.   She also revealed that she had attempted to open her own boutique and it failed because her heart wasn’t completely into it, however,  instead of feeling completely defeated, she decided to create her own line of shoes.
It’s been five years since that interview, and Mel’s brand has grown by leaps and bounds.  Since then, she’s designed a few different sneakers for Reebok, including the Betwixt, the LOVE sneaker, and she is the first woman in history to design her own Reebok classic pump.  She also has had a successful jewelry line which has been spotted on the collarbones of celebs like Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Keri Hilson, Ciara, Angela Simmons, Erykah Badu and more.  Long story short, she has it going on.
Last year, Melody went back to her roots, and opened a boutique in the heart of West Hollywood, on Fairfax. During my recent visit to the shop, I was immediately impressed by the space and decor.  The jewelry and her latest shoe designs were all neatly  placed in glass casing that would be found in high-end jewelry or luxury diamond stores, and on the wall was the motivating quote and reminder,  ‘Stop waiting to be who you already are!’

As a reminder, here’s Melody’s 2009 advice to up and coming designers:

My motto is that its easier to steer a moving car than it is a still car. Just start somewhere! anywhere! go to your local craft store, get some t-shirts printed, whatever it is that you want to do. Once you open that door, it will come. But don’t sit there with your ideas and not create them. Those ideas are worth nothing until you attempt to execute them.

I can not wait to see what the future holds for Ms. Ehsani!
