I grew up on Brandy.  I can remember first seeing her on Thea and then catching her on Entertainment Tonight as she talked about wanting to be a singer.  A year later, she released her first album which won her multiple awards, but it wasn’t until she released the classic Never Say Never album that she really catapulted into super stardom. That was at least 15 years ago.  To have her recognize what I do and show so much appreciation almost brings me to tears.  These are the moments that make getting up and blogging every day worthwhile.
To catch you up  to speed, a few weeks ago, a YouTube beauty blogger name Beat Face Honey  found out that Brandy was coming to her town (Philly) so she made a video on YouTube asking her subscribers to contact her idol Brandy on Instagram and let her know that she wanted to do her make up.  After being bombarded with tweets and Instagram messages, Brandy eventually asked “Honey” to do her makeup, not only for her show that night in Philly, but for the entire weekend.  She was floored. Afterward, “Honey” sent an email to me detailing her entire weekend, which Brandy eventually read on the site for the first time, and was moved to tears.   You can read the story here.
After Brandy read the story herself, she wrote on Instagram:

One thing that stood out was that she said “our dream”!  How humble of her.
The greatest lesson that I took from Beat Face Honey’s story on meeting Brandy was to always be prepared. You never know when your big moment will present itself.  While she waited for a response from her idol, she went and bought all of the best make up on the market and practiced applying makeup inspired by Brandy’s videos to her friend’s face every night, just in case she received the call.
This is truly an example of when preparation meets opportunity.  “Always be ready so you don’t have to get ready.”
I can confirm that Beat Face Honey is still doing Brandy’s make up and is now traveling with her.
How awesome!
